Portfolio Management

Portfolio Management represents a fundamental shift in a company’s approach to managing it’s investment in projects and/or assets.

Portfolio Selection

Utilizing a combination of investment modelling and project governance resources, we work with your organization to identify what results you want to drive with your resources (financial, human, technical), and then design a Portfolio Selection Model that will enable you to identify which investment opportunities will best deliver your desired results.

Once complete the organizational governance and change management needed to enable the implementation is then developed.  This typically includes process and cultural changes, as well as ensuring that toolsets are in-place to streamline the selection activities.

Portfolio Management

To achieve true management of a selected portfolio, tracking and adjustment of the initial portfolio must take place.

Tracking requires that processes and operational governance is in-place to enable on-going reporting of results by each investment within the portfolio.  As well, overall portfolio performance must be available, and measurable against expected results.

Adjustment of the portfolio is necessary when one or more initiatives are no longer expected to achieve original results, affecting the overall performance of the portfolio.  Thresholds of performance must be set, and triggers in-place to notify the portfolio owners when this occurs so action can be taken.  Options for action include either adjusting portfolio level expected results, or adjusting the make-up of the portfolio to re-balance.
