Knowledge & Content Engineering

Knowledge and Content Engineering does more than “manage” content – it considers the value of different content relative to specific different purpose and organizes and makes it accessible in ways which create more knowledgeable and effective employees, customers, partners and suppliers.  Further, Knowledgetech evaluates the existing business processes and tools related to the content and implements changes to make them more efficient.    Our approach prioritizes for an organization where to find the highest ROI from their existing content.

The result? A dramatically more effective, efficient and knowledgeable set of stakeholders.

Knowledgetech’s approach to Knowledge & Content Engineering can be customized to fit a wide variety of organizational scenarios, however, our exclusive approach ensures that the value we deliver remains consistently high.

Business Problem Definition – This initial workshop(s) is designed to rapidly get to the heart of the change that is required and what the end-state vision is.  The result is a set of scope statements to guide the design of the solution.

Value Determination and Prioritization – Collating and classifying content relevant to the scope of the business problem, and then prioritizing it’s relative value in resolving the problem is the next step in our solution lifecycle.  This enables us to determine where the ‘quick wins’ and ‘big wins’ are to reach desired end-state.

Content Reconciliation & Re-engineering –The prioritized content is then reconciled against the systems, processes and people by whom it is affected or it affects.  This is also where final requirements for changes are documented and reconciled against end-state to validate that the expected results can be achieved.

Knowledge Design & Implementation –  This is where art meets engineering.  The systems, processes and people changes needed are designed and implemented, and content is re-organized, classified and made accessible according to the designs.  Knowledge improvements are benchmarked and tracked as each set of changes are made, to ensure desired outcomes are being reached.

ROI Benchmarking – Once fully implemented, Knowledgetech conducts interim benchmarks for a defined period of time to ensure adoption and outcomes are reached.

What types of technologies are involved?

  • Portals
  • Index systems
  • Scanning systems
  • Workflow engines
  • Mobile devices

Typical scenarios include:

  • Information overload – too many sources of content and information, and it’s not clear which ones are the right sources
  • Knowledge transfer – generational shifting requires tacit knowledge to become authoritative, documented content for new generation of staff
  • Process chaos – organic growth of business processes and systems creates significant ineffectiveness in completing highly profitable work
